MRI after Magtrace: The PostMag study explained by its lead authors
Does Magtrace significantly impact long-term post-operative MRI visibility? That was the key question explored by an esteemed group of Swedish and UK-based physicians in their recently published study.
Following the publication of PostMAG in the European Journal of Surgical Oncology (EJSO), we asked two of the study authors, Dr. Andreas Karakatsanis and Dr. Eirini Pantiora of Uppsala University, to share the key findings from the study.
In this video, they explain what makes them so convinced that Magtrace is relatively risk-free for post-surgery imaging visibility.
Watch as they discuss:
- A lack of standardisation with MRI - is it effective for all patients post-surgery?
- The motivation behind the PostMag study and how they emulated real-world conditions.
- The lack of significant difference between standard MRI artifacts and SPIO-related artifacts.
- The ideal Magtrace injection profile: 1ml dose, injected peritumorally under ultrasound guidance ahead of surgery.
